About

Hi my name is Kalianne Davis and I am an author and proofreader!

I got married in 2018 to my amazing husband and in 2023 we welcomed into the world our first child, our second joining us in 2025.

I graduated from Central Ohio Technical College in 2016 with an Associates in Information Technology and worked in that field for seven years. During that time I attempted to write my first book and looked into a career shift that could align with my new passion.

I found a course entitled Proofread Anywhere and started down that new path!

Since starting the Proofreading I’ve been working on my first debut novel and am please to say it will be released soon!

What is proofreading and why do you need it?

Proofreading is the last line of editing to make sure your document is perfect. While there are some AI tools that can help correct some errors, there’s something nice about having an actual person read through a document. A person can catch tone and misused words like “there”, “their”, and “they’re”, while AI will skip over it.

Proofreading can give you the peace of mind that there isn’t a missed comma, or something not being capitalized, or that there’s an extra space floating around.

Copy Editing vs. Proofreading?

Copy Editing: To polish the document and make it clear while retaining the author’s voice and meaning.

Proofreading: To review the mechanical elements of the document.

Both pieces of editing provide similar services like checking for grammar, spelling, and problematic words. Copy editing goes more in depth with tone, wordiness, and flow while proofreading is looking at formatting, capitalization, and page layout.
